Pennsylvanians Encouraged to Store Emergency Contact Number in Cell Phone
The state Senate has adopted a resolution encouraging Pennsylvania residents to store an emergency contact number in their cell phones under the acronym ICE, which stands for "in case of emergency."
John J. Kelly, DO, FACEP, an emergency room physician, said many people have already started using the ICE acronym.
"Good Samaritans, first responders, medics, and emergency room doctors could access 'ICE' in your cell phone and notify your relatives if you suddenly became ill, unconscious, or incapacitated," Dr. Kelly said.
Your emergency contact also would be able to provide your medical information.
Senate Resolution 252 was sponsored by Sen. John Rafferty (R-Montgomery).
